changing out my gas push mower engine with an electric motor?
I have a 1/3 hp 120v electric motor i had laying around in the garage as well as a cracked block on my lawn mower.electric motor still works great! So, my question is.would this motor turn the blades while trying to cut the grass? i'm assuming it's about 1200 rpms as most motors these size are. Whats the avg rpm on a 3 hp gas engine? i know the hp is pretty low on the electric motor but i figured with the rpm on the electric motor, it would cut the grass faster since there's more rotation than hp compared to the 3 hp gas motor. would it seize up or would it cut just the same? given rpms over hp.i'm just doing this just to see what happens, nothing for commercial use or anything.
