Did I kill my lawnmower. Part two?
So yesterday I got a new electric start, self propelled, walk behind toro mower. I made the mistake of only putting in about a quarter of the oil it needed, and did not charge it before I ran it (it did start without a charge) It ran for about 1/2 hour and then cut off. I charged the battery, added oil and now it will not start. It will click once when I turn the key. Any ideas of something else to try before I pay someone to look at it?
I am almost certain that you did not kill your new mower! On the other hand, I feel certain that you've just ran it out of gas. try refueling and see what happens! As a rule all new small engines are tested at their respective manufacturing facillity with what they call "break in"oil. This oil is specialily designed with a polymere coating to prevent future "dry" starts, and with the little oil you did put in it, it should be fine! It is accually better to have less oil in than being too full. Also, if the mower has been sitting for quite sometime in the store, and if it was a cold place, ten to one the battery may have become frozen at one time or another and has lost nearly half of it's rated cranking amps. I'd take the battery back to where you purchased the mower from and they should replace it free of charge under warranty for you if they find it defective.
